SOLEHYPE - THE BIGGEST NAMES IN THE SNEAKER WORLD - INTERVIEW WITH Foamer Simpson @mrfoamersimpson

TH: For the people who may not familiar can we get a quick intro? Name, Age, Hometown & Occupation?

FS: Foamer Simpson, 28, NYC, Professional Basketball Player.

TH: Your YouTube channel is quickly approaching 50K subscribers in just a year’s time. Did you ever anticipate it taking off as well as it has and what has been the best lesson you have learned since starting the channel?

FS: No, I didn't anticipate it growing as quickly as it has. I started the channel because I had a lot of free time on my hands after surgery, and I've always loved sneakers. It's been a good time so far, and the support has been great. I think the best lesson has been to just have fun. At the end of the day YouTube is a hobby for me.

TH: You definitely aren’t pigeon holed into one specific sneaker brand or type as you review Jordans, Lebrons, Adidas, Reebok, New Balance, Asics etc. That to me is the sign of someone who really loves sneakers for the right reasons and isn’t trying to just show off a Jordan collection to get popular.

Any advice to the people out there who get stuck with one brand or type of shoe and don’t explore the sneaker world a little more?

FS: Yeah, I think versatility is important or things can get boring. I respect the people who only rock one brand, but that's not my style. I would encourage people who are into kicks to try something different. There are a bunch of brands doing great work right now.

TH: With 2013 nearly over what are your top 5 shoes of the year?

FS: 1. Asics Gel Lyte III "NYC" by Ronnie Fieg

       2. Nike Air Max 1 "Tiger Camo/Snake" by Atmos

       3. Puma Blaze of Glory "Sharkbait" by Sneaker Freaker

       4. New Balance 1600 "Daytona" by Ronnie Fieg

       5. Nike Lebron X "Cork"

TH: If you could work for any sneaker company in the world which would you choose and why?

FS: I have to pick Nike on this one. There's so much versatility within their brand - everything from basketball kicks, to runners and retros. Not to mention they put out the best performance sneakers hands down, and that appeals as an athlete.

TH: Of all the materials used on sneakers which is your favorite that makes you have to buy a shoe and why? Ie: Suede, Premium Leather, Cement Print, Elephant Print, Flyknit, etc.

FS: I really dig premium materials and high quality sneakers in general. I don't know that there's one particular material that makes me buy a shoe although I am definitely a sucker for leather and suede. I look more so at the overall quality.

TH: What’s your feelings on the latest Kanye x Nike x Adidas fiasco of late?

FS: I don't feel too strongly about it one way or the other. I'm not a huge Kanye fan or anything so it doesn't effect me much. I think he's a creative dude and he'll do good work wherever he's at. I understand why he wasn't feeling the Nike situation, and at the end of the day it's a business. He has to do whatever he thinks is best for him.

TH: Looking back can you remember what specific shoe sparked your love sneakers and what about that shoe did it for you?

FS: Jordan XI. I remember seeing those for the first time and I was just memorized. I had never seen anything like them. I always liked sneakers, but it was a wrap after that. Those definitely sparked the love.

TH: What would you say is the one shoe you are most looking forward to releasing in 2014?

FS: I'm hoping the Columbia XI's drop in 2014. I know they haven't been confirmed, but I've been waiting on those since my dog chewed them up a few years ago.

TH: If you had to wear one shoe every day for the rest of your life what shoe would that be and why?

FS: Ahh don't make me pick one, haha! I want to say the Air Max 90 Infrared or something along those lines, but I can't play ball in those. So taking all things into consideration it would have to be the Jordan XI.

Lace those bad boys up and you can drop 40 on the court, take your girl out to Red Lobster, or go to the club and still get jiggy with it.

TH: Out of all the shoes you own what was the hardest to get your hands on and why?

FS: Probably the New Balance 999 "Kennedy" - I hunted those for quite a while. It was extremely hard to find an unworn size 13 and it seemed like every time I did the seller wanted an arm and a leg. I stayed on the hunt though, and finally found a pair!

TH: Any last words for the people out there?

FS: Not really, haha. Just have fun with sneakers. Remember at the end of the day they're just sneakers so don't take it too serious. Build relationships, make friends, and rock what you like.

TH: Where can everyone find you on social media and the internet?
