TODAYSHYPE Spotlight: adidas Originals Spezial Royal/Yellow

With roots based in the sport of handball of all things, you shouldn't be surprised at how versatile and necessary the adidas Spezial is to any wardrobe. The shoe was born back in 1979 but still pulls at the strings of even the most unfamiliar to the storied history of this shoe. The classic lines, vintage feel and array of updated color options make the Spezial a hard shoe not to recommend.

We had a chance to get our hands on the Royal/Yellow colorway which is straight from the adidas vaults with so many shoes before it using this color blocking to perfection. The suede covered upper is more supple and buttery than your normal run of the mill suede you would come to expect which is a welcomed surprise here. There aren't any stiff or cardboard feeling materials anywhere on the upper which is a great thing to feel right out of the box.

Yellow leather covers the iconic 3 stripes and also make there way to the heel with embossed adidas branding. That same leather also creeps into the sock liner of the shoe which is always a touch we love from adidas that holds up much longer than your normal non-durable fabric alternative. It also gives the shoe a much more solid and premium feel to the shoe. Gold "Spezial" lettering caps off the upper of the shoe in classic adidas fashion that pulls right from the original way back in 1979.

The all white soccer cleat inspired sole not only provides a generous amount of cushion but is extremely durable making the Spezial a great option if your looking for an all day throw anything its way shoe that you can either dress up or dress down for a more casual look. The versatility of the Spezial is something very few alternatives can even come close to which is just one of the many reasons you should pick up a pair now.

Make sure to continue below for our full on foot gallery showcasing the shoe. You can pick up a pair now directly from adidas here.
